Springfield, IL…State Representative Dave Winters (R-Rockford) and State Representative Joe Sosnowski (R-Belvidere/Rockford) announced that the Illinois Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (COGFA) will host a public hearing on Wednesday, October 5th at 4:30 p.m. at the U of I Rockford School of Medicine to discuss the potential closure of Singer Mental Health Center. 

Before any state facility can be closed a public hearing is required to be held by COGFA to discuss the potential impacts of such action.  COGFA members will hear testimony from a number of witnesses speaking to a variety of topics including local and regional economic impacts, the future care of patients, and individuals affected by the potential closure.  COGFA will listen to witness testimony and issue an advisory opinion on the potential closure.

The U of I Rockford School of Medicine is located at 1601 Parkview Avenue in Rockford, Illinois.  Residents are invited to attend the committee hearing and can address the panel with any questions or concerns they may have.  Those who want to offer public testimony to the committee are encouraged to contact Representative Winters district office by phone at (815) 282-0083 or contact Representative Sosnowski’s office at (815) 547-3436.
